My first weightlifting competition is tomorrow and I’ve decided to compete wearing a Spiderman costume. Everyone seems to have all the gear, all the lycra, all their packages showing. I thought I’d chime in with my own addition…
Nothing like psyching out the opponent with a bit of superhero madness.
Tapering has continued this week, with lifting class last night setting the boundaries of percentages, as follows;
Snatch – worked up to 85% of my Heavy Single best
Clean and Jerk – worked up to 77% of my Heavy Single best
No more than 85% was hit in order to save the muscles and nervous system for the weekend.
I’ve been eating like Ronnie Coleman this week, making up for losing, yes losing, weight over the Christmas period.
As long as I get a good night’s sleep tonight and work through some mobility today, I’m pretty sure I’ll be feeling sharp …
The goal is to get at least a kilo or two on top of my personal bests, maybe more if I can summon a huge ‘SHAAAANNNNKKKKLLLLE’ John North-esque scream.
